About the book- For the few of you who don't know - This book follows Hazel, who is dieing from cancer which tells this is a sad book good, but sad, who meets Augustus which sends her on a journey of love, loss, and self discovery. Basically, what brings them together is their love of this book, it's the only book this author has ever written and it doesn't end, so they take it upon themselves to be the only two people who know what happens after the end of the book which takes on a long, fun, sad, and epic journey.
Now while my description may sound good trust me it sucks. =)
I'm just gonna do a quick review since there's not much that hasn't already been said about this book.
I don't want to lie in this review which is hard because I'm not really sure what I thought of the book, I know I gave it five stars and put it on my shelf of loved books but the more I think about the book and the way it was built up and put on a pedestal in my mind by everyone who loves it and how I started out on the first page thinking there's no way this book isn't great, right? that I'm not sure how much of it I actually loved and how much of it I just thought I was going to and was supposed to love.
But here are a few undeniable facts -
-It's sad (While I didn't cry, it doesn't hurt to have a box of tissues on stand by when reading this book)
-It's beautifully written (I know a lot of people actually hate the way it's written and found it pretentious and what not, but I for one thought it was beautiful, and I'm kinda a sucker for beautifully written books, books that are more than just regular words on a page (If that makes any kind of sense at all))
-The characters are awesome (There wasn't one character I didn't love)
-The end is the best part
So that's my weird and confusing review. Overall I'm glad I finally read it but I think all the hype kinda took away from the book, at least for me. I would recommend it, but I recommend trying to go in without expecting it to be the best book ever, cause while it is really good again I just think it kinda takes away from the actual book. But that's just one weird persons thoughts. =)
