Ragnarok

I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but today is Ragnarok, the day in Norse mythology that the world is supposed to end. I think this is awesome, because if the world is going to end I think this is a pretty badass way for it to happen.

In Norse mythologyRagnarök is a series of future events, including a great battle foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods OdinThorTýrFreyrHeimdallr, and Loki), the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water. Afterward, the world will resurface anew and fertile, the surviving and returning gods will meet, and the world will be repopulated by two human survivors. Ragnarök is an important event in the Norse canon, and has been the subject of scholarly discourse and theory.

The event is attested primarily in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. In the Prose Edda, and a single poem in the Poetic Edda, the event is referred to as Ragnarök or Ragnarøkkr (Old Norse "Fate of the Gods" and "Twilight of the Gods" respectively), a usage popularized by 19th-century composer Richard Wagner with the title of the last of his Der Ring des Nibelungen operas, Götterdämmerung (1876). - Wikipedia

Come on admit it, this is really interesting stuff. Personally I love all the mythologies, Greek, Egyptian, Roman, Celtic, Norse, and I've always loved books and movies and everything that mention Ragnarok it's so interesting. I mean if the world had to end what would you prefer? That we're all brought before our "maker" and judged or a fiery blaze of Viking mythology awesomeness?
P.S. I mean no offense to anyone with that last comment and I am sincerely sorry if it does offend you.

How are you celebrating Ragnarok? Watching Thor? Reading Loki's Wolves? Doing something equally awesome? What about a Ragnarok themed party? All you party animals do your research!

Song Of The Moment - Guardians Of Asgaard by Amon Amarth - By they way this band is awesome and their songs are all about Norse mythology.
