My Rating: 4 Stars - I liked and enjoyed it.

Review - It was interesting. A fun highly enjoyable magical adventure. Goddesses, bandits and mercenaries, oh my. I loved the concept but it didn't quiet meet my expectations. The book starts off really good but kinda peters out towards the middle leading to a lot of eye rolling on my part, but by the end it really starts picking up, getting good. The story progresses too slowly if you ask me and if there had been a little less kissing and more action I think I would have loved it. Still it's a unique new voice in YA fantasy and it's worth reading for sure, especially if you like lots of romance and kissing.

Likes -
  - The world - It was a really interesting magical world.
  - The plot - I really enjoyed the plot and the few action scenes, I just wanted more of it less kissing.
  - Shadow - I have to say the wolf was an awesome character.
  - Monsters - There were some really unique monsters that Ashlyn and Zane had to fight on their quest, I just loved the uniqueness of them.
-The Norse mythology - While it wasn't overflowing with mythology what there was was really cool and just added a whole other layer to the story.

Dislikes -
-The romance - too much. Too much kissing and moaning and yeah.
  - Not enough action....too much romance.
-Slow - the middle especially, the plot just progresses so slowly.
  - Dialogue - Some of the modern dialogue really took me out of the story and just didn't mesh well with the fantasy setting.

Overall - There was too much romance, I am firm believer in the line between fantasy and romance and this book crossed that line. I want my fantasy adventure books to be fantasy adventure books. The romance started out where it seemed like it would be a slow sweet one that was secondary to the overall story and not even 40 pages in it kinda took over. I still enjoyed the book, it's still really good especially the second half and I will read more from this author and I would recommend it to readers who enjoy heavy romance in their fantasy books and I know a lot of people do, so yeah read it!

  1. I wrote the same thing in my review too (well the romance-y part)! I just posted my review yesterday! I reviewed the book because it was given to me by the author - and yes I'm not participating in the tour - but I really kept noticing the immense kissing and moaning + groaning. :(( The book was still nice though :)
