Description -

When Sybella arrived at the doorstep of St Mortain half mad with grief and despair the convent were only too happy to offer her refuge - but at a price. The sisters of this convent serve Death, and with Sybella naturally skilled in both the arts of death and seduction, she could become one of their most dangerous weapons.

But her assassin's skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to the life that nearly drove her mad. Her father's rage and brutality are terrifying, and her brother's love is equally monstrous. But when Sybella discovers an unexpected ally she discovers that a daughter of Death may find something other than vengeance to live for...

My Rating:

5 stars

Review: Since this is the second in the series and I don't want to give any spoilers for either book, this review is going to be short and sweet.

Basically, I loved this book. Unlike Grave Mercy, I wasn't bored through the first half, the whole thing kept me widely interested. I defiantly see why everyone says this is better than the first, it's defiantly my favorite so far and I will list out the reasons now.

Sybella - Sybella is an excellent character, a very unique character, that I feel you can't help but love and root for. She's had such a hard life and she deals with it the only way she knows how and I just loved her. She's a very strong main character and I feel that she had a lot more personality than Ismae(main character from  the first book).

Love Interest! I'm not going to say the name, because I consider this a spoiler, but he's just so great. Swoon worthy and I loved him just as much as I loved Sybella and I shipped them so so hard! I definitely liked them better than Ismae and Duval and I loved the love interest more than I loved Duval(love interest from book 1).

I just felt like even though this book was a bit shorter, more happened. It was definitely better paced, not as slow, and darker. It was a lot faster and a lot darker. Sybella has such a tortured past and has lived a tortured life and this book was just perfect with that, the author handled her past and her learning to move on and her romance, very very well. Sybella is very strong minded and I loved her so much for that. There were a couple times when I was just so heartbroken for her, when we were learning about her past. And basically, the FEELs were real with this book.

So, if you were having doubts about continuing the series, please doubt no more!

Would I Recommend This? Yes.
Will I read more from this author(or series)? Yup.

  1. Sybella is easily one of my favorite characters ever. And I so agree with all the FEELs! I'm glad you liked it. :)

  2. I'm glad this book was even better than the first. I like the sounds of covering different characters. Good characters and romance, I so need to get to this series. I'm always afraid of feels. lol
