The Ultimate Shopping Guide For The Book Lover In Your Life

So, everyone has that one person, the one that's the hardest to shop for...the book lover! Why is it so hard to shop for us? Well, sure we can give you a list of the books we want, but what if you want to go off list??? It's so hard to buy us books because it's nearly impossible to tell what we don't already have! Also, what if you want to get this person who loves books something besides a book? And you think to yourself, do they even like anything else?

I am going to share some of my favorite websites and a couple tips I have put together for shopping for the book lover in your life. If you're a book lover yourself, then perhaps I will inspire some new items to add to your Christmas lists!

1. Goodreads! Every book lover knows of Goodreads, but other people? Not so much. Basically, Goodreads is like any good social networking site only it's all about books! Now, nearly every book lover has a Goodreads profile(I assume), so if you're looking for new books to get the book lover in your life, stalk their Goodreads! They will more than likely have lists for everything, including all the books they "Want To Read" but haven't gotten around to picking up yet! Now, if your book lover is less organized, like myself, it may still be difficult to determine which books they already own...so keep the receipt! Goodreads will also link you straight to Amazon where you can purchase the books!

2. Hot Topic! I know, I know. Most people think Hot Topic and they think emo and goth people, but no. They have one of the best selections of nerdy stuff around! Nerdy shirts, nerdy pants, nerdy buttons and stickers and keychains! They have it all! They sell Harry Potter stuff, Hunger Games stuff, and lots of other stuff. This is good for if you want to get the book lover in your life something besides books! Also, they have cardboard cutouts...who doesn't want a cardboard Peeta standee for Christmas?(though warning, they don't carry these things very often, or for very long!)

3. Spencers. Is a lot like Hot Topic but they tend to lean towards the nerdier side, with things like superhero t-shirts and cartoon shirts, which is also good because chances are your book lover also loves these kinds of things! Fair warning, beware the darker side of Spencers...

4. Thinkgeek! This again is more for if your book lover is also a closet nerd, do they love Star Wars? Minecraft? The Big Bang Theory? Other awesome things!? Then check out Thinkgeek!

5. Noble Collection/WBShop! So, the book lover in your life is a Harry Potter fan you say? Then these are the places to shop because they have Harry Potter, Hobbit, and Lord Of The Rings everything! Shirts, collectibles, wands and everything else your book lover could want!

Is your book lover also a writer? Then cheek out this tips!

What to buy the writer in your life?

1. Pens and notebooks. It's a proven fact that writers can never have too many pens and notebooks even if they don't seem to use them constantly, trust me, they do!

2. Coffee mugs! Writers love cool coffee mugs, bonus points if it's nerdy book-related ones!

3. Coupons. Give the writer in your life some coupons for one-hour intervals of quiet time, this is best if your writer has a tendency to scream at everyone to shut up... =)

Okay, that's all I've got.

Tell me booknerds, what do you want this holiday season???

    1. Thanks! And I know, I try to make a nice, easy to follow list for my family every year but they still have issues! They always want to go off list which is fine but so complicated because they don't want to buy me a book that I already own! =)

  4. Hot Topic has Hunger Games stuff!? Why have you not told me this before!? Now I need to go to Hot Topic. Well... maybe I'll stick to the website. But I didn't even know Spencer's was still a thing! The one in our mall closed so long ago I had forgotten it existed. And Thinkgeek makes me happy! How did I not know about this!? And I do LOVE a nerdy coffee mug! These are such great ideas, love them!

  5. This is the best list of the world. I totally need to direct my family here, lol. Christmas isn't huge in my house but my birthday is just after xmas and I am the household resident booknerd. SO YAY. x) I'm checking out all these sites. Postage is what usually stops me from buying stuff, buuuuuut. NERD THINGS ARE AWESOME.

  6. There is no trick to shopping for the booklover, just buy books! Why is that so hard for people to understand that's all we want. My family persists in thinking getting someone all books is boring!

I don't know how I lived before Goodreads! Good tips, I hadn't heard of all of these sites. (Thinkgeek and I are old friends though)
