Join Me And Together We Will Rule The Writing Galaxy

Please excuse the post title, I'm in a Star Wars mood at the moment.

So, CAMP NANO IS COMING! Please see the next paragraph if you have no idea what I am talking about.

NaNoWrioMo takes place every November and it's where you commit yourself to writing and try to write a 50,000-word novel in just one month! Camp NaNo takes place in April and July with a few key differences. First of all, you get to costume set your goal, you don't have write novel, you don't have to write 50,000 words, you can write more, you can write less, you can edit, you can basically do whatever you want. There's also virtual cabins! Where you can choose to be paired up with other writers either by age group or if you're writing similar things and so on and so forth.

Obviously, I am going to be doing Camp NaNo in April, let the excitement commence!

Back in October, I tried to convince all the people to join NaNoWriMo and I have not given up! Let me explain to you why Camp NaNo is your ideal choice when first starting your writing journey. Now, I've done two regular sessions of November NaNo, and one of July Camp NaNo, I even went to the Night Of Writing Dangerously NaNo event in November, so I do kind of know what I'm talking about by now. ;)

1. It's fun! NaNo, in general, is fun but Camp even more so! You get to join a cabin which is basically just like a massive message thread you can view on the website where you're linked with other writers who are your cabin mates. It's very similar to Twitter messaging actually. And beyond cabins there's a huge Twitter community, writing sprints and virtual write-ins! Let me tell you now, if you're not going to take advantage of the community then it's not fun(well it's fun but not nearly as much) so if you're considering this remember to take full advantage of it! I was nervous about joining a cabin last year cause I'm super shy but its so much fun!

2. Customizable goals! Are you new to writing? Trying to see if you have what it takes to write a novel? This is prefect for you! You can set your goal at only 10,000 words(or less) and when you reach 10k? You get that epic winners screen and loads of bragging rights! If you are a more seasoned writer then up that word count goal, challenge yourself again, or just work on revisions!

3. Because you've always wanted to go to summer camp from home.

4. Because I'm too tired to come up with another reason and that's good enough?

Bring it.

Expect another post later this week about my goals for NaNo! I still haven't decided what I'm writing yet because I'm like the best procrastinator ever... =)

I do hope you'll decide to join in, it's loads of fun, but remember Camp comes twice a year and will be back in July(I think) so if you need more time to make a commitment...keep that in mind!

Happy NaNo-ing!

Or HERE to see my most from October where I try and convince you all to NaNo
This will take you to the Camp website and here will take you to my profile if you're interested!

Do you write/have you ever considered writing or do you just love love love reading?

  1. This is so cute! I've heard of this everywhere, and I think I might be thinking of joining soon :) Thanks for convincing me, Shay :D I actually thought initially that this was an ACTUAL camp, but I like how it's very virtual and all. SO EXCITING ^_^

    1. Yay! I really hope you join and let me know if you want to talk about it more, I'm sure I could come up with some real tips!

Yeah, it's all online which is just awesome because you can act like you're at camp while sitting in your pajamas all day long! It really is so much fun. =)

  2. Oh this sounds like a blast. Too bad I prefer reading to writing ;)

  3. I epically failed November Nano.... BUT CAMP NANO IS ANOTHER DAY!

Also, dude, I didn't know you were from Reno (checked out your camp nanowrimo >>) I'm from Vegas. WE ARE NEVADA BUDDIESSSS.

    1. Exactly! And in a lot of ways Camp is so much easier and way more fun. ;)

Nevada buddies!!!!!!!!?? That's awesome! There aren't many of us in the book blogging world, are there?

  4. I'VE BEEN WANTING TO DO THIS. But 1) I'm bad at writing fiction, and I think I would like to take more than a month to write a story, and 2) THIS IS IN APRIL where I am already writing 25435345 papers for classes. So yeah. Haha. BUT I HOPE YOU HAVE FUN. MAYBE I WILL JOIN ONE DAY IN MY LIFE

    1. Haha. 25435345 papers!? You should win just for that! ;)

Yeah, my first book took me at least four months to finish the first draft and while I won my first NaNoWriMo that book needs to be 100% rewritten because...the end result wasn't pretty! Still, I hope one day you decide to try it(I'll try to convince you again for July session!). =)
