The Story Goes... An Origin Story

This is a tag created by Jillian @ Jillian's Books. She wrote a post about how she started her blog and what made her start her blog and then decided to turn it into a tag! I'm not sure if the tag has an official name but Jillian called her post: The Story Of The Blog. It's really cool and the only rules are that you must tell your story and you must draw your story (unless you can't draw and then gifs are fine). Personally I can't draw anything but dead trees and demented stick figures so....I'm going with gifs!

Once upon a time...

I dreamed of fairies and they told me: if you build it, they will come..,. Obviously they meant a book blog.

No. Actually this started as a random blog full of random things, highlights include all my very poorly put together Comic Con posts from when I went to Comic Con and an Ode To Watermelon(please don't go through the archive to find these!). It had the oh so original name of The Blog Of The Teenage Nobody, which I thought was SO CLEVER because I used Nobody as my author name.

So yes, I had that for over two years I believe and I talked about everything I love so there were some book-related posts, some reviews. I reviewed Fault In Our Stars with it and my ARC of Cress that's pretty much it. Then - THEN I got the genius idea to make a second blog for book reviews called something along the lines of: Nobody's Book Reviews. I did that for four months probably, but I hated the pressure! I didn't know there was a whole community of book bloggers, I was beyond a newbie, and I hated feeling like I had to be thinking and analyzing a book the whole time I'm reading. So..I quit.

So, THEN. A year passed after I tried that review blog, the second year of blogging random things and I stumbled across Top Ten Tuesday and that's how I found the community! Then I slowly started transitioning into this being ALLL ABOUT BOOKS. Backtracking a tad...

Before I transitioned, for four months or so this was basically all about writing. I did my first NaNoWriMo in November 2013 and was posting every other day or so for that and basically it was all about writing when I was still kind of a newbie at that. That's when I changed the name of the blog!

I was brainstorming and I wanted it to be something to do with writing and stories and everything I love. I had a different idea originally, just different wording, but it wasn't available so I went with The Story Goes... Anyways, I changed it, found the book blogging community and it wasn't long after that that I converted to a full book blog!

So thanks Jillian for making an awesome tag and tagging me! I tag:

  1. I love this! Thanks for tagging me, I think I shall do this next week, because I love it! That is so cool that you've been blogging for so long, I have too in a sense (guess you'll have to wait for the post hahah) but not about this stuff! And I can only draw really crappy stick figures and trees that no one thinks look like trees! Yay for our non-artistry! ;)

    1. Haha. Trying to remain mysterious until your post, are you? ;)

My stick figures just look so disproportionate! I'm just glad I'm not the only one that's a horrible artist; we are not alone! =)

  2. I'M SO GLAD YOU DID THIS :D Honestly, I think it took me an hour to draw in my tag because the stylus felt wobbly in my hand, haha. Anyway, I love your story! I really enjoyed reading this post. :) I've been seeing a lot of twinsies nowadays in this community because you're not the only one who felt pressured with blogging and eventually called it quits; I've heard of other bloggers who had quit on their first try as well :) I like the fact you originally wanted your blog full of writing. Truthfully, I sort of made a writing blog a few weeks ago, but it's so empty because I don't know how to constantly update it lol.

thanks for doing this Shay :D

    1. Haha. It seems like a theme for sure, like the first time it's hard and then you have to wait until you really really want do it to try again and keep it up! =) Yeah, I was really into the writing blog thing but felt like, again, I was such a newbie to it. But again, I started another with my friend and now it's going pretty good. I think you should totally try to continue with the writing blog! Do you have a link to it? =D

  3. Oh no, another tag for me to spend hours on. I'm sold! lmao, I was wondering why you went by the name Nobody. That was such a cute blog title...kinda wish you'd kept it. Though I like this one too. :D You are so clever, I am the worst at coming up with blog titles. I literally went to google for mine. :P

    1. Haha, but they're so much fun, right!? Yeah, I was really into wanting to publish a book by Nobody, I thought it was the coolest idea ever(still kind of do) which brought about all of that! And really? I've always thought I was so lame with titles! I mean I love The Story Goes... but there are so many better names out there! And I love yours, it works so perfectly for your blog! =)

  5. YOU'RE GIVING ME MOTIVATION TO COMPLETE THIS TAG. Wait so I have a question, is this blog, the Story Goes, your ORIGINAL blog where you posted everything? Or is it your REVIEW BLOG?

Honestly I don't think I could keep up with having two blogs. I mean I have a tumblr, but that doesn't count. I also can't even keep up with writing in my journal!

    1. YAY! I want to you do it, I thought about tagging you again as motivation actually! It's my original blog where I posted everything, I completely deleted the old review one, I can see where that may get confusing though. =)

I don't think I could either! I can barely do this one and post once or twice a week on my writing one running two full blogs wouldn't be possible!
